By tone & scale

A tone. A proportion.
Then the details.

Resin tone is a material choice; scale decides presence and shelf space. The guide below compares all five scales.

Scale guide

Height is the number collectors ask about first.

BJD scale comparison: doll height, equivalent human height, best use and current catalogue count.
Scale Doll height ≈ Human height Best for In catalogue
1/3 60 – 70 cm 160 – 175 cm Largest face and body detail; the classic display scale. 125
1/4 40 – 50 cm 150 – 165 cm The most common home-display size; easier to photograph. 46
1/6 25 – 28 cm 140 – 155 cm Shelf-friendly; a good first resin doll. 28
1/8 18 – 22 cm 135 – 150 cm Small, travel-friendly, and often animal sculpts. 13
1/12 11 – 13 cm 130 – 145 cm Miniature scale for a compact collection. 3

Height ranges follow the usual convention for each BJD scale. Exact measurements are on each product page. Counts update automatically.

How ordering works

Made to order,
not mass-produced.

Your doll is produced after your order is confirmed, finished in the configuration you chose, then packed with tracking. That is why the same sculpt can be offered unpainted, with a basic faceup, or as a full set.

  1. 01

    Choose the configuration

Unpainted, basic faceup or full set. The listing states exactly what is included.

  2. 02

    Produced after you order

Production starts once the order is confirmed.

  3. 03

    40 days to inspect

Eligible standard items can be returned within 40 days of delivery. Read the policy before ordering.

Customer notes

In their words.

Two notes from customers who ordered in our early years — on the ordering, the packing, and the doll that arrived. Lightly edited for length.

The website was easy to navigate, the ordering process was straightforward, and the doll arrived faster than expected — well packaged and in perfect condition. First BJD questions

A few things
worth knowing.

Short answers to the questions that come before a first order. Check the product page and policies for the exact item.

What makes a BJD different from a fashion doll?

A ball-jointed doll is strung through hollow ball joints, so it can hold a pose and be restrung or customised. The head, body, faceup and outfit are often chosen separately, which is why the listing should state exactly what is included.

Why do two dolls in the same scale look different in size?

Scale describes proportion, not one fixed height. Two 1/4 dolls can differ by several centimetres, and body measurements matter more than the label when you choose a wig or outfit. Use the height and measurements shown in the listing.

What should I confirm before ordering a full set?

Check the product configuration and description before ordering: whether the full set includes faceup, eyes, wig, outfit and shoes. If an item is not named, do not assume it is included; the product page is the reference.

How does made-to-order production work?

Production starts after the order is confirmed. Check the product page for the current preparation window, and the shipping policy for tracking, duties and delivery; preparation and transit time are separate.

Care & display

Resin rewards
a little attention.

A BJD is made to be handled, not sealed away. Four habits keep colour, faceup and jointing closer to how they arrived.

  1. 01

Keep direct sun off the resin.

UV light accelerates yellowing. Display away from a sun-facing window, or rotate the doll so one side does not take all the light.

  2. 02

Clean the cast, protect the face.

For the resin itself, mild soap and a soft cloth are usually enough. Keep alcohol, acetone and abrasives away from the faceup; blot rather than rub.

  3. 03

    Store it supported.

Pad the case, support the head and avoid heat or damp. A doll left in an extreme pose can put long-term stress on elastic and joints.

  4. 04

    Expect the elastic to age.

Restringing is maintenance, not damage. Check tension and S-hooks before storage; a trusted restringer can bring the jointing back.

General guidance only. Follow any care instructions supplied with your doll.
